What is the ORA System for Cataract Surgery?

Return To Blog Ora system at Diagnostic Eye Center

Diagnostic Eye Center is proud to introduce the latest technology to our practice, helping to bring advanced vision care to Houston, TX. The ORA System with VerifEye+ Technology allows our Houston ophthalmologists to provide the most accuracy and precision possible for our cataract surgery patients.

During the procedure, we remove the cloudy lens from the eye through a small incision and replace it with an intraocular lens, or IOL, of a predetermined power. This power is typically determined through measurements taken in the clinic.

By using the ORA System with VerifEye+ Technology, our eye doctors can verify these measurements in the operating room after the cataract has been removed. The ORA System takes about 40 measurements in just a matter of seconds and tells the doctor in real-time what IOL power to place inside the eye. This is especially helpful for patients who have had previous refractive surgery, such as LASIK or Refractive Keratotomy (RK).

The ORA System also gives detailed information about astigmatism. These measurements help our surgeons to provide the most accurate results possible to ultimately reduce dependence on glasses and contacts for our Houston cataract surgery patients.

Benefits of the ORA System:

  • This system can enhance surgical outcomes for patients with astigmatism
  • The ORA System can help enhance results during lens replacement surgeries such as cataract surgery, improving vision outcomes for patients.
